Among the districts, Kolasib is recorded as getting maximum benefits from the NREGS. “Here, people actually got 100 days job,” rural development officials told Mizonews.Net.
In Lawngtlai, on the other, people get to work only for 73 days. As per information from Rural Development officials, the central scheme covers as many as 173839 families during the last fiscal.
The Central Government had sanctioned Rs. 25229.24 lakhs while the state shared 3405.049 lakhs for the NREGS. And, out of Rs. 29354.39, which is the total amount for the 100-day jobs, Rs. 29185.8 lakhs has been spent.
For 2013-2014 fiscal, Rural Development department estimated Rs. 32077.41 lakhs, out of which Rs. 30564.21 will be sanctioned by the Central Government, while the State’s share will be Rs. 1513.083 lakhs. The balance of last fiscal Rs.141.891 lakhs has also been kept for use in the current fiscal.
