Man dies of bee stings in Mizoram

Aizawl, Oct 29 (PTI) A 38-year-old man was killed near Chithar village in south Mizoram's Lunglei district after he was stung by a swarm of bees in the jungle on Wednesday, reports reaching here from the village today said.

Nghenchhanliana was on the edge of a waterfall when thousands of bees attacked him and in order to avoid falling into the gorge he just sat down allowing the swarm of bees, locally called 'Khawidang' to sting him for sometime.

He managed to return home with great difficulty and died of the multiple injuries after having high fever, the reports said.

In a separate incident, a 46-year-old man was bitten to death by a snake in Mizoram-Assam border Hriphaw hamlet on the same day.Zairemmawia, who was working in his garden did not return home on the night of Wednesday and the search party comprising of policemen and villagers found his body in his garden along with a dead snake.

It was concluded that he killed the snake after it bit him.
