11 Mizoram students who attacked two cops get bail

Pune: A sessions court has granted bail to 11 students of Spicer College in Aundh, who hail from Mizoram and were arrested for allegedly beating up two policemen last month.

The students had reportedly attacked the policemen who were trying to intervene in their dispute. They have been charged under section 307 (attempt to murder) and 353 (assaulting police while performing their duties) of IPC.

On September 17, police control room got a call about the dispute between the students behind the wine shop near Bremen square, after which police constable Tanaji Takle and police naik Balkrishna Dalvi rushed to the spot. While the cops tried to to intervene, the students allegedly attacked them with sticks. Takle was reportedly assaulted with a stone by one of the students but was saved by the helmet he was wearing.
