Mizoram govt creates 'Chief Minister's Free Medicine Scheme'

Mizoram government today decided to create the 'Chief Minister's Free Medicine Scheme' to ensure that people receive medicine free of costs in all hospitals and other health care centres, including health sub-centres in the remote villages, officials said.

This decision was taken in the meeting chaired by state Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla, his younger brother and Health Minister Lal Thanzara, Chief Secretary L Tochhawng and senior officials of the state health department, the officials said.

The meeting also decided to constitute an expert team to formulate the professional man-power plan for the Health department while it was also decided to strengthen the Food and Drug Administration wing.

A committee to make decisions on transfer and posting in the state health department would also be formed, the officials added.
