The team, acting on a tip-off, seized the packets containing 3,25,000 pseudoephedrine tablets and arrested two persons, Laldinthara, 32, a resident of Aizawl, and C. Lalmachhuara, 35, a resident of Thenzawl, 93km from Aizawl. A BSF release today said the seized drugs were valued at Rs 52 lakh in the Asian market.
The contraband was found under the driver’s seat of the hired car. The driver is also being interrogated.
This is the fourth consignment of the drug seized by security forces in south Assam and Mizoram in a span of over two months. BSF sources said the drugs were smuggled to either Mumbai or New Delhi and from there to South East Asian nations through Assam and Mizoram.
