Mizoram needs to make progress in industry: Governor

Aizawl, Mar 27 : Mizoram Governor, Vakkom Purushothaman said that Mizoram government needs to make progress in industry, because the state government cannot provide enough jobs for the youths, as of now.

He said this while addressing the public gathering at the premises of Circuit House here in a local programme.

The Mizoram Governor said that the number of educated youths keeps increasing in Mizoram.

"The government could not provide them enough jobs, therefore, the most important thing for Mizoram at present is to put thrust in industry," the Governor advised.

As of now, it is not possible to set up big industries in Mizoram, he however stated.

"Handloom and handicraft are two feasible industries that can be done as of now", Vakkom Purushothaman said.

The Governor expressed his wishes that the students, after completion of their studies, seek jobs in other parts of India and even abroad as done by the educated youths of Kerala.

The Governor encouraged the youths by saying that India being the largest democracy in the world, even the poorest have the chance to hold the highest position.

By way of example, he said, "The 10th President of India K.R Narayanan was also from a poor family.

One can become what they want to become with strong will and perseverance", he added.
