Silchar, Jan. 14 : The decks have been cleared for the
implementation of the Mizoram Liquor (Prohibition and Control) Act,
2014, for allowing only those who would possess liquor cards, with an
official announcement yesterday that the act will come into force on
January 22.
This act, however, for the time being now will not be operative in
the three autonomous district councils of Lai, Chakma and Mara areas.
The act seeks to replace the Mizoram Total Prohibition Act, enacted
in 1995, bringing in a regime of near total prohibition in Mizoram.
