Mizoram gears up for Presidential poll

The preparation for the Presidential election in the sate began today with the arrival of ballots boxes here.

Joint CEO H Lalengmawia and assembly additional secretary Vanlalnghenga received the six ballot boxes from Election Commission at Lengpui Airport. From there the ballots boxes brought to strong room at the state's treasury under tight security. The polling will be conducted at Assembly lobby on July 19. Sources said, ballot papers to be used in the presidential election were printed under the supervision of state election department.

Tight security measures have been made in and around the Assembly premises on the eve of presidential election. Soon after the polling, the officials will fly to Delhi with polled ballot boxes. UPA nominee is sure to get maximum votes from the Congress-ruled Mizoram.

All the opposition parties, Mizo National Front, Mizoram People's Conference and Zoram Nationalist Party will vote for P A Sangma. MNF with its ally MDF, has four MLAs and one Rajya Sabha member, ZNP two MLAs and MPC two MLAs.
