The joint team apprehended 24-year-old Nazmul Islam Laskar with notes of Rs 500 denomination having a total face value of Rs 1.5 lakh, a BSF official said.
The consignment had come from Bangladesh and was meant to be distributed in Gumrah, Kalain, Jalalpur and bordering villages, BSF spokesman and Deputy Inspector General, HQ BSF Mizoram and Cachar Frontier, Satish Budakoti, said.
Laskar, who used to work in coal mines in Meghalaya before getting involved in the fake currency racket, was handed over to the police, Budakoti said.
