Malaria deaths on decline in Mizoram

AIZAWL, June 25 – Deaths due to malaria have sharply declined to seven during January to May in Mizoram this year against 47 during the same period last year, State Health Department officials said today.

The officials said that those who died were mainly from malaria-prone areas in south and western parts of the State.

Malaria has remained the main killer disease in the State till last year when it was surpassed by pneumonia deaths.

Mizoram: Felicitation Of Successful Kawnpui Students

Kawnpui: Pu Lal Thanzara, Parliamentary Secretary graced a felicitation function organised by the Kawnpui Youth Association, held at Govt. Kawnpui High School on 5.6.2010 (Saturday), as Chief Guest. the function was organized to felicitate successful students and meritorious teachers in the Kawnpui town area.

Addressing the gathering of students, Pu Lal Thanzara encouraged them to work hard right at the start with dedication and sincerity. He asked the students to avoid drinking, smoking and any type of addiction which will otherwise destroy them at the end. Saying that they are our future leaders, Pu Lal Thanzara inspired the students to always maintain good character and respect towards their teachers and elders. He also commended the Kawnpui Youth Association for organizing such a successful programme out of their own resources.

Kawnpui Youth Association awarded 83 HSSLC, 24 HSSLC, 10 BA and 10 MA successful candidates within the year 2010 and State and District level meritorious teachers.
